Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

Happy holidays! Here’s a list of ideas for people in your life who love to (or want to love to) cook. The ideas below are extremely personal: they’re either made by dear friends, or tools we’ve found essential in our kitchen. None are sponsorships, just products we love (though we do receive a small percentage if you order from these Amazon links).

2017 Daily Recipe Calendar

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

This year we’ve got a daily desktop calendar featuring our favorite recipes posted here on A Couple Cooks! We collaborated with an Indy-based publishing company (TF Publishing), and it’s such fun to see all our recipes in printed form. It’s great for anyone who is interested in cooking more. We’ve also got a wall and mini calendar featuring some of our food photos. ORDER HERE

Cookbooks

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we’re cookbook obsessed! Here are a few of our favorites from this year; most of them are written by dear friends and each one of them was featured on our blog or podcast.

Baking Kit

Our friend Amanda over at Heartbeet Kitchen has a baking box for healthier Scotcheroo bars — they’re gluten-free, vegan, and naturally sweetened. The kit makes putting together this treat easy and fun, and it’s a great gift idea! We had her on the podcast to chat about it (listen to Amanda). (Photo by Amanda of Heartbeet Kitchen)

Pairings Box

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

Our friends Kasey and Matt over at Turntable Kitchen have been offering a Music + Food pairings box for the past 6 years. A gift subscription to the Turntable Kitchen Pairings Box features original recipes, a vinyl single, a digital mixtape, and a premium ingredient.

Aeropress

If you have a coffee snob in your life, this new gadget is where it’s at. It looks a little space-agey, but it’s changed our lives. It makes a super high quality coffee FAST, with easy cleanup. (Listen to our podcast about coffee for more instructions on how to use it, or see this how to post.) ORDER HERE

Pizza Peel & Pizza Stone

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

If you want to make homemade pizza, you must have two essential tools: a stone for cooking the pizza so the bottom gets crisp, and a peel to slide the pizza onto and off of the stone. Here are our recommendations:
PIZZA PEEL
FANCY PIZZA PEEL (actually worth it as the canvas conveyor makes it easier to use — see above)
PIZZA STONE

Herb Saver

The herb savers is one of our top kitchen essentials (see the plastic cylinder in the background of this photo). Herbs like cilantro and parsley last for a few weeks in the refrigerator in this saver, extending the life well  past the typical 1 to 2 days. ORDER HERE

Food Processor

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

We’re big fans of the food processor and use it all.the.time. Hummus, pizza dough, cauliflower rice, almond butterenergy bars, etc can all be made with this guy. A bit more of a splurge, but a necessity for any serious cook. ORDER HERE

Donation to Culinary Training Center

Holiday Gifts for People Who Love to Cook | A Couple Cooks

In my family, we’ve started to do donations instead of gifts. We love it and it’s exciting to give back during this holiday season. If you’ve known us for a while, you’ll know we traveled to Cambodia to spent time at a cooking school that helps at-risk young women by teaching them kitchen and restaurant management skills. The program is run by a non-profit here in Indianapolis, Center for Global Impact (CGI), which employs people in Cambodia to run the show. I’ve been there twice and it’s an amazing place; the photo is of me with the students in 2013. Human trafficking is a difficult and important topic these days; here’s a chance to do something about it! Feel free to donate or let us know if you have more questions. Here’s more on my last visit to CambodiaDONATE HERE
